Dr. Aravind Menon K is a Gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary & GI Cancer Surgeon by profession with 10+ years of experience in medical field and 5+ years of experience in surgery. Hailing from a humble non medical family background, Dr. Aravind took up the field of medicine because of his passion and zest to serve the community. After passing XII Boards in flying colours and clearing AIPMT exams, he completed his MBBS from Govt. Medical College, Tirunelveli as the Best Outgoing boy student being a recipient of Subramaniam Memorial Award instituted by Rotary Club of Tinnevelly. Being fascinated by world of surgery from his Undergraduate days, he cleared and entered MS program at prestigious Stanely Medical College, Chennai. He was trained under Prof.Dr.D. Nagarajan, an ardent academician and disciplinarian. Imbibing the surgical ethics and etiquette taught by him, Dr.Aravind was trained in various surgeries from head to foot including laparoscopy & Endoscopy . After completing MS training, Dr. Aravind joined Shanthi Nursing Home, Surandai and practised as a laparoscopic & general Surgeon. In his pursuit to further excel in surgical world as a specialist , he cleared the DNB CETSS with All India rank of 27 and joined the Doctorate program in Surgical Gastroenterology at the prestigious King Edward memorial Hospital & Seth G.S. medical College, Mumbai which is one of the premier institutes for gastrointestinal surgery in the country and a centre which has the prestige of being the first public sector hospital to conduct Liver Transplant in Western India. He was trained under doyens and senior hepatobiliary surgeons like Dr. Ravi Bapat, Dr. Avinash Supe, Dr. Chetan V Kantharia and Dr. Ramkrishna Prabhu. At KEM, he assisted and performed a wide spectrum of Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary surgeries including Liver Transplantation and gained valuable experience secondary to none. During this period he was also involved in publishing and presenting research papers in various conferences at national and international level and gained many accolades for the same. After successfully obtaining Doctorate in Surgical Gastroenterology from National Board of Examinations (DrNB Surgical Gastroenterology), he further travelled to Delhi where he was trained in Advanced Laparoscopic & Bariatric procedures under CUSP Group of Surgeons. During this period , he had the opportunity to work at prestigious institutions of the country like Sir Gangaram Hospital, Batra Hospital and Research Centre and National Heart Institute, New Delhi under acclaimed laparoscopic surgeons like Dr. Arvind Kumar and Dr.Saleem Naik. He then came back to fulfill his motto and objective of providing speciality medical care to the rural and semi urban population and setup Gastrocare Tenkasi , the first speciality gastroenterology centre in Tenkasi District.
